If you develop coronavirus symptoms

If you develop symptoms of coronavirus, please don’t come into the service but do contact us to let us know so we can plan how to support you.

Use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service to find out what to do.  Only call NHS 111 if you cannot get help online.
Coronavirus symptoms include:

  • A high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)

If you have these symptoms, the government advice is to stay at home for seven days.

Keep yourself safe

REMEMBER: people who use drugs and the people in their lives commonly have weaker immune systems, respiratory (breathing) problems, and other conditions that place them at a higher risk of getting COVID-19 infection.

You can reduce your risk of COVID-19 infection by:

  • staying at least six feet away from other people
  • coughing or sneezing into your arm
  • avoiding touching your face
  • washing your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water

WASH YOUR HANDS with soap and hot water vigorously for at least 20 seconds (but longer if you can) every time you come into contact with others, after handling money and after you get any packages. Paper towels are preferred for drying hands, or at least use a clean towel. If you cannot wash your hands, clean your hands with an alcohol-based cleaner or wipes (minimum 60% alcohol concentration).

In addition to regular hand-washing, here are a few other tips to reduce risk:

  • Try to avoid sharing joints, pipes, straws, etc
  • Try to avoid sharing / passing your stash bags
  • Try to avoid touching your face / eyes with your hands when smoking / snorting
  • Wash using / preparation surfaces
  • Avoid group sessions and employ social distancing
